In a nutshell, an ally can be defined as, an individual, country or
organization that unites or forms a connection or relation with another. Ally comes from the Latin word alligare, meaning “to bind to,” like nations who are allies in wartime — they will act together, and protect one another. You can also usually as a verb, meaning “join forces with.

An ally is someone who stands up for any person who is being oppressed. For example, your friend who recently came out as gay might be facing criticism from their conservative parents. Or you might have a female coworker who is a victim of sexual harassment. You can become an ally by finding positive ways to support your friends.
